Is Being Rich Important to You?

| February 18, 2008 | Reply

If I had a nickel for each time I wanted to know how to become wealthy, I would probably be rich by now.  In fact, there’s a multi-billion dollar industry dedicated to teaching people how to invest and get rich.  But when it comes down to it, is the how really that important in the long run?  Maybe we should consider asking why we want to be rich.

By asking ourselves why, it forces us to find the fire that motivates us.  Only then we naturally set out to accomplish what’s needed to find out how.  For example, I recently wanted to sell one of my investment properties.  Although the building cash flows well, I constantly go on maintenance calls to make repairs.  The plumbing is old, the walls are in bad shape, and my tenants argue constantly.  I was fed up.  However, I didn’t sell because my drive to be rich at a young age was much more important than quitting.  That’s why I chose not to sell.

There are thousands of people who have the ability to be rich.  They’re driven to find out how to get rich, but they don’t understand why they’re doing it.  If you’re considering being rich, ask yourself why it’s important to you.  If the reasons are right, you probably already know how to get rich, and are taking the steps necessary to get there.
